The first little Shabby Rabbit shop started in a very humble little room. Not much more than a closet really! It was about 185 sq. ft in Dragon Alley, Chinatown, Victoria, BC. Quickly, it became apparent that Victoria loved Magnolia Pearl and that a new larger location (with a bathroom) needed to be found. The search was on!!!
2225 Oak Bay Ave in Oak Bay was the place. We moved in and the neighbourhood welcomed us with no small amount of curiosity. Were we consignment? Were we children’s wear? Were we crazy? The initial interest brought in lots of amazing women. Many of them have stayed and become dear friends. We have switched up our lines a few times and are constantly evolving. One thing remains the same – we seek to stock the shops with natural textiles that are unique to our shops. We also carry some great jewelry and accessory lines too!
Our latest location is at 2254 W. 4th Avenue in the lovely Kitsilano neighbourhood of beautiful Vancouver. Visit us for all the great lines you’ve come to know us for. Check out our fantastic chandeliers while you’re there! We’re not done growing yet. Watch for our brand new Duncan location at 80 Station Street opening on or before July 8, 2021!
is a shop assistant in the Oak Bay shop. Gloria has a love of learning. She has immersed herself in learning all there is to know about our systems at the shop. She is our go to for figuring out how to make things work!
Gloria is absolutely unflappable and very sweet natured!
manages the Kitsilano Shabby Rabbit shop. She has a passion for Magnolia Pearl and once she knew a shop carrying Magnolia Pearl was open she decided - with little or no imput from the hiring committee (there's a hiring committee?) - that she would be working in this shop! Kym also has a passion for travel - particularly to India!
is a shop assistant in the Oak Bay shop and has approached her job at Shabby Rabbit with an artist's eye and a sunny disposition. Her attention to detail and skill at combining colour and pattern is invaluable in styling mannequins and people alike!
manages the Oak Bay shop...sometimes she manages it from the store, but until COVID put all of our travel plans on hold she could frequently be found managing it from a fabulous beach somewhere. Talk about live/work balance!
Ruth truly sees beauty everywhere and has found beauty in the incredible fashions of Magnolia Pearl, Bodil Collections, Ewa i Walla and Les Ours!
Bunny - The Head Rabbit
is the luckiest woman in the world having found a way to do what she loves! After being locked in a cage (a law office) for far too many years, Bunny just had to add some beauty to her life. That beauty was Magnolia Pearl, Shabby Rabbit and the incomparable women who have come together over a love of all things pretty.
With the assistance of her husband/head of construction, Laird Doyle, her son/head of the IT Department, Daniel Osnes (there's an IT Department?) and her poodle/head of dog cookie quality control testing, Jean Pawl, Bunny manages to keep a lot of balls in motion, but not necessarily all in the air!
